TRIADS builds community with co-sponsored events, coffee hours

Continuing its mission of building community and collaboration around data science research, TRIADS will begin co-sponsoring research talks, presentations, and other events this spring.

Interested WashU event organizers can complete an application on the TRIADS website to request funding.

"We're excited to tap into the active research community around WashU and help facilitate gatherings of researchers," said Tammy English, TRIADS co-director. "We know that logistics and funding are often major hurdles for bringing people together, so we see it as a service to remove some of those uncertainties from the process. By taking advantage of TRIADS' resources, researchers can focus on the work and making connections with their colleagues."

Additionally, TRIADS has launched a new weekly "coffee hour" program, hosted out of its collaborative space at 420 Jolley Hall. Every Wednesday from 2-3 p.m., WashU faculty, students, and postdocs are invited to meet to discuss a different topic, with several sessions led by a subject matter expert. No registration is required.

"The coffee hours are an opportunity to shake things up a bit and bring people together in a new space," said Bo Li, TRIADS co-director. "We're excited to see the conversations and connections that come out of these sessions."
